Day 53

I finished the ribbon and added another coloured frame to kevin and Usain. I'm still thinking about whether or not to keep the outline there or not, maybe I'll put both the outline and coloured animation as two different videos, like how I uploaded the Thanos project with and without a ship.  This first video is without the outline so you can see how the ribbon is by itself The second video has both the colour and outline just to give you an idea of how it looks The plan that I've come up with is to make it a looping video, so I need to make the ending and beginning basically the same

Day 52

Today was just more colouring of the ribbon. I didn't take into consideration that once I got to the part where it starts to wrap and twist and turn around Kevin and Usain that It'll take alot longer to colour in. The next part after is, again, just colouring in Kevin and Usain with the colours that I put up in the top left corner and going through each frame.  The other thing that I've been thinking about is whether or not to keep the black outline as part of my final product. The tutorial has you remove it but as of now, it looks good with it there along side the colour. Another thing that didn't come to my attention until now is that the animation is 101 frames long. I didn't really think about how long this would take me but I think it'll be worth it by the end

Day 51

Today was just more colouring of the ribbon, almost done for that part. The next part would be just colouring Kevin and Usain in with the same colours as that first frame. The last part would be that transition part which would utilize the onion skin feature. I would like to make it look like a looping video by making the ending and opening animation the same.

Day 50

I decided that the brushes I found yesterday were pretty good for what I needed so I stuck with them. I started the colouring by doing the ribbon first as that was the easiest yet most tedious part. I also found this website that shows a lot of Photoshop timeline shortcuts (which luckily shows both Windows and Mac shortcuts), although I haven't looked through it all the way yet, the link for that is here:  http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/2012/08/timeline-panel-shortcuts-for-video-and-motion-in-photoshop-cs6.html

Day 49 - Experimentation

Image
Today was the first day I worked with the colours, I downloaded some brushes from this website here:  https://www.brusheezy.com/free/watercolor ,  because the ones provided in the tutorial didn't work. It doesn't look that good but this kind of the testing phase of the project where I'm just going to mess around until i get something that looks like what the tutorial is showing

Day 48

I have officially finished the outline portion of the video, and I made sure to go back and catch any missing lines because I realize that a lot of the previous videos have them missing heads or legs and whatnot  The next step on the tutorial is to download the brushes that they provide and start colouring the frames. The final part of the animation is the opening and closing animations which as of now i have no plans for.

Day 47

I finished the outline part of the animation other than maybe a few frames. The next part the tutorial has you do is to download the water brushes and start colouring in the outlines. I'll probably just stick to what the tutorial is having me do.

Day 46

More progress on the animation, nothing new has been done. Again, I'll add a video of it when I've finished and started thinking about the colour part of it

Day 45

Still working on the outlines, not a lot more done today other than that. I'll be working on this for a while so i wont be posting a video until that part is done

Day 44

progress so far is slow, and that's because of two reasons. One, I'm taking too long on each frame, and I have to stop a little earlier to give time for the video to load.  But I'm still happy with what I've got so far, and again, I can't wait to do colour

Day 42 + 43

Yesterday I had some problems uploading the video so hopefully today it will work. Again, I'm still working on the frames of the running part, I keep underestimating how long it takes to do it I'm happy with how this is going so far and I can't wait to do the colour part, however that ends up looking

Day 41

I made not as much progress as I would've liked today but so far it's still looking really good

Day 40

The Rotoscoping is coming along really well, I'm impressed with how well the animation looked, I didn't think I could make it look so smooth like the ones I've seen but it looks good. The only progress I've made is one Kevin and Usain, nothing new worth seeing, but I'm hoping that next class i get at least close to finishing because I just got to the point before Kevin falls into the ribbon to mark the end of the race.  The next step is the colouring which I haven't really thought about too much but the tutorial I'm following makes it look like a live water colour animation which i might also do

Day 39

Today I decided to go back and add a majority of the ribbon into the frames I already did as well as adding more to Usian and Kevin. I figured out how to show my videos so today I can show my progress Nothing too special but I am really happy with the ribbon when Kevin falls through it, you can't see it that well but it has a really smooth look to it that I wasn't expecting to get

Day 38

Image
I made a decent amount of progress on the running part of the animation, maybe one to two classes would finish it. The only problem I encountered is that there's a ribbon that they end up running threw that I completely forgot to include so I went back and started adding that back in each frame.  I couldn't get to export a working animation so for now I'll only be able to post pictures of what i've done

Day 37

All I did today was begin on the frames for the animation, only about a few seconds worth and not really much to show. The basics are putting the framerate on the video to about 8, then adding a layer on top of the video to draw each frame out. I'll be doing this part for the next few classes so there wont be much to see until I get a majority of It done.

Day 36

Image
I've begun on attempting the Rotoscoping. The idea of it isn't that hard but It's the fact that I've maybe used the timeline in photoshop once years ago so its a bit of a learning curve. I found this video of a race between Kevin Hart and Usain Bolt that I'll be using to create the animation This is all I have so far, nothing really done so far, just figuring out how to use the timeline feature to properly do this but all it really consists of is drawing each frame out the if i wanted to colouring them. I'll try to figure that part out tomorrow

Day 34 + 35 - Halloween and Project summary

The last few days have been a bit of a break of sorts from the project. Halloween day I took a small break and did a Halloween Themed scavenger hunt, and today I did a project summary, basically putting together all the things I've done In a small convenient word document. Next day I will begin working on the rotoscoping project again and try to figure out what I'm doing for it.
